Cosmetic parts need surface quality, paintability and impact at controlled cost; mechanisms need toughness, fatigue life and oil resistance. ABS and PC/ABS cover the f rst role; POM is the established choice for the second.
What to Check Before Sourcing Interior Resin
- Heat resistance: in-cabin temperatures can exceed 90 °C on sun-loaded surfaces.
- Surface quality and paintability for A-surface parts.
- Impact at low temperature (door panels, consoles are impact-loaded).
- For mechanisms: wear, fatigue and long-term oil/grease contact.
- Note: general-purpose grades are not OEM-validated —conf rm low-odor / OEM-spec grades against your OEM number.
